Networks
iLink installs, repairs, trace, maps, and troubleshoots ethernet cabling from cat5 to cat8. Standard cabling used these days are cat6 or higher for all their networking needs. It's always important to use high quality cable whenever new cabling is installed (especially with POE devices). otherwise you can run into random problems that can be very difficult to diagnose.
Low Voltage Cabling
Certain situations call for fiber optic cabling when ethernet cabling isn't up to the task. Fiber optics isn't susceptible to EMI like ethernet cabling is, and fiber can be used over very long distances while maintain very high bandwidth. We mainly install fiber in large buildings, building to building, or in situation where the company requires high bandwidth between trunks. Switches are very important part of any network. Switches and cabling make up the base your network, so it's very important to get quality equipment. also keep in mind that switches should be replaced every 4-6 years which can be very costly depending on what brand you go with. We've had a lot of success with certain enterprise grade brands (Ubiquiti, Aruba) that won't break the bank, but if money is no object and you like to pay for licensing annually, then Cisco, Extreme, and Juniper are always a great choice to go with.
Managed/Unmanaged Switches
Firewalls are a place where we recommend putting quality equipment. We normally go with Sonicwall, or Fortigate products because they're priced fairly well compared to Cisco and they're NIST certified just like Cisco. We see a lot of companies going with Meraki these days, but most people don't know that Meraki isn't NIST compliant. Yes, Meraki is a Cisco product, but it isn't NIST compliant. Since we take security seriously, we like to go with products that are NIST certified.
NGFW Firewalls
WiFi technology has made some big improvements over the last couple of years (WiFi6 and WiFi6e), but it still has it's limitations. We can't stress enough how important backup are especially these days with all the ransomware attacks (ransomware attack's: are when your data gets encrypted by a someone outside of your organization (or a bad actor within you organization) to where you can no long access/use it).
